Restaurant Bingo: Ellensburg Edition
Happy last day of June from Pierogi and Springroll! This month has flown by and it is now officially summer in Seattle. The past few days have been HOT here so we're reminiscing some of the delicious adventures we had in Ellensburg earlier this month. To officially kick off summer and the season of getting out and exploring, we have another installation in the restaurant bingo series: Ellensburg, WA. If you have the chance to get out of Seattle for a weekend or if you are visiting the Cascade Mountains or Spokane, be sure to stop in Ellensburg - a historic town and home to Central Washington University. The downtown has a great main street vibe with restaurants, shops, and lots of beautiful historic architecture. On our most recent visit to Ellensburg, we checked out two more places:
The Early Bird: Brunch
Fidelina's Taqueria: Comfort Food
PLUS a bonus stop at Pretty Fair Beer, a brewery in the historic Ellensburg National Bank building. Be sure to check it out for happy hour or an after dinner drink!
Learn more about each of the restaurants and dishes we tried throughout the weekend down below; I've included addresses and websites or contact information for reference. All three stops were affordable and delicious prices with options for takeout, dine in, and dining outdoors. Stay tuned for more great restaurants in the coming weeks as we explore the region and fill in our bingo board!
The Early Bird
If you are looking for a great breakfast or brunch while you're in Ellensburg, be sure to visit the Early Bird. This downtown spot has delicious sweet and savory brunch options as well as lots of choices for coffees and teas. I thoroughly enjoyed the beet hummus toast which featured creamy, earthy hummus, hard boiled eggs, avocado and the Early Bird's own blend of everything but the bagel seasoning. Any of their breakfast entrees include sides of potatoes, fruit, or salad. The fresh garden salad was the perfect pairing to the rich and creamy toast. I finished off the meal with a warming and frothy chai tea latte. In addition to delicious food, the Early Bird has a beautiful outdoor patio space with fire pits and even blankets if you are dining out on a chilly morning.

Comfort food can be many different things, depending on who you ask. In my case, I love Mexican food of all types and, sadly, Seattle has very few authentic, home-style Mexican restaurants or food trucks. This is not the case in Ellensburg - the small town is home to plenty of amazing Mexican places to try. When we visited, I knew we had to stop at Fidelina's Taqueria, one of the most popular spots in the area. The restaurant isn't currently offering dine-in, but they have a large covered patio adjacent to the restaurant to enjoy your food. I absolutely loved the enchiladas in a rich red sauce, beans and rice, and salad. The creamy, refreshing, cinnamon horchata was the perfect complement to the savory and spicy enchiladas. If you are extra hungry, try their massive foot-long burrito!

Bonus Stop: Pretty Fair Beer
This beautiful taproom occupies the first floor of the historic Ellensburg National Bank building right in the heart of downtown Ellensburg. The tasting room highlights the art deco character of the building and even features direct access to a vintage radio booth. The building even served as Ellensburg City Hall for 65 years! We tried a few different ciders, beers, and hard seltzers. Pretty Fair Beer sells beer in 5 ounce tasting sizes, pints, and growlers - though I always recommend tasting sizes (at least to start) to try a few options and decide what you really like!
Address: 420 N Pearl St, Ellensburg, WA
